Fall in the Golden Hills | Jacob & Kourtney

I met Kourtney a year and a half ago, at my little sister’s 19th birthday party. I heard that she was finishing up school to be a cosmetologist and I remember when I met her, I thought she was so quiet and sweet – it always makes me laugh, somehow the very loud Christiansen family always has the quietest people at their house. But, I got to know Kourtney more in the last year, discovered we have a shared love of country line dancing (thanks Stoney’s) and she has given me the hair color of my dreams!

When we moved back to California from Nevada this summer, I was looking for more couples who would want to do a portrait session and my sister said that Kourt would definitely be interested. So an Instagram DM later, we had a beautiful session and we’re planning styled bridal shoots together. Oh, and she’s not nearly as quiet once you become her friend – she’s got one of the most contagious laughs ever.

The whole time I was capturing these two, they could hardly stop giggling. There was such a tenderness about their interactions and it was so sweet to watch. So I brought out the country music and the sneak attack hugs, and watched them bust a gut laughing the whole time.

One of my favorite moments of the whole session was when I had them walking silly and Kourtney ended up with her hair all in her face. They paused and Jacob so sweetly brushed her hair out of her face. The thoughtfulness of the moment stopped me in my tracks and I am so grateful I got to capture it.

Kourtney and Jacob met because of their fathers becoming friends while on a missions trip. Jacob was gone at basic for Army Reserves and Kourtney was working as a hair stylist. They just met this summer and clearly, things are going pretty well because they are QUITE taken with each other.

I am so honored that I was allowed time with these two. Capturing such sweet moments with my couples is something that I don’t take lightly because I’m present for moments that are sometimes vulnerable and intimate.

Jacob and Kourtney, thank you for allowing me the privilege of capturing you two. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for you.
